No Guilt Zone.
HAPPY QUARANTINING MY GULLIES!
Well, for some people there isn’t a lot of happiness going on right now. The weight of the unknown is crushing some and the loss of routine and structure is crushing others. There is a lot out of our control right now, and it is literally a global waiting game. But our reaction to any and everything is always IN our control. This blog is to encourage anyone to not experience any guilt after this is all over. Are you that person that sometimes feels too bad for taking a day or two off to do completely nothing? Do you wake up punching yourself in the face figuratively because you rested “too much”? Well I am that person! If I could go to a mountain and spend 30 days doing nothing I would love that so much. And then get home and think about the billions of things I could’ve done during that time. If you are like me then repeat this three times to yourself or out loud:
I WILL SHOW MYSELF COMPASSION AND NOT COMPARE MY JOURNEY TO ANY ONE ELSE’ S DURING THIS TIME.
TAKE A DEEP BREATH…
TAKE ANOTHER ONE…
INHALE…
EXHALE…
Okay, great! Back to what I was saying.
DON’T FEEL GUILTY!
During this corona craze…
Bobby might build a robot that doesn’t just sweep and vacuum, but one that also cooks you breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Skylar might start her business and build her website.
Lorenzo might organize his whole house and finally declutter his garage.
Jessica might come busting out with a 12 pack of abs.
Ben and Jen might have mastered their homeschooling schedule and have the kids trained to the tee.
GOOD FOR THEM.
BUT THAT MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU!
It is super inspiring to hear about other people’s accomplishments, but their journey is theirs alone. If you need to unplug for a bit to slow down the comparing you are doing in your mind right now, do that. There is nothing wrong with taking time for you to figure out what YOU want to do during this time. We all have the power to be great and do amazing things, but those amazing things are different for everyone. Some people might come out of this with no new business ideas, no toned legs, no decluttered home, no new paintings, and that is OKAY!
You making it out alive is enough.
You being you is enough.
Let me type that again…
YOU BEING YOU IS ENOUGH!
Do not envy other people being super productive, reflective or creative. Cheer them on, and also be okay with you not doing what everybody else is doing. Maybe this time is for you to chill out and stop producing so much and stop going, going, going, and sit down somewhere. Maybe this time for you is just to heal from your past traumas and cry, laugh, and cry some more. Whatever it is, make sure that you are not beating yourself up by May 1st thinking you failed at life because you didn’t do any of the things that your friends on social media were posting. If your life looks similar to April, don’t freak out. It is only a month guys. Yes, you can accomplish so much during that time, but you can also accomplish so much by just accepting that you matter regardless. We measure people’s status or worth by how much they do or contribute to society. The less you do, the less you’re worth. People are really out here thinking they are non essential to this society. Yea, no, I completely disagree with that philosophy. We were all essential before, during and will be after this corona virus is gone.
Guilt is a parasite that will eat away the good that can really come out of this sad situation. Be easy on yourself during this time and be at peace with whatever you decided to do with YOUR time. Stop comparing yourself to others. Mind your business. Focus on you. Wash your hands. Love yourself harder today. Love your loved ones harder today. Wash your hands again. Don’t judge your progress or lack thereof….JUST BE!
