PRIDE 🌈 .
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!!!!!
This post will make some people uncomfortable, and that is the whole point of being gully right? SoOO... CAUTION : NO DISCRIMINATION ALLOWED.
Back to what I was saying, it is pride month and it is pretty exciting! If you have never been to a Pride parade, I suggest you google one ASAP and go to it this summer. I mean hello, it is for the free, free. I never got any bad vibes at any of the ones that I went to. It is the beautiful wave of expression that makes these things so fun and welcoming. Everybody there is free to fully be themselves all weekend. It seems crazy to say but there are not many places people can FULLY be themselves without criticism from someone. Now don't get me wrong, there are those few confused religious folks that stand to the side with hate in their megaphones and signs. See below at the ignorance in our world.
Why waste time to do all of that? It looks like it is cold and they said this was in D.C., they could've stayed home. I am all about freedom of speech and marching for your rights. But this? Extremely extra and unnecessary. The sad part is that the LGBTQ community sees and hears this more often than they should.
The best way to shut prejudice people up is to keep being you.
I get excited about Pride month because it is a short period of time where people from all across everywhere, come together to celebrate. Celebrate love, community, freedom of expression, and just being able to laugh and dance with people that are like-minded. Can you imagine if we did this more? Celebrated our differences and cultures more? Celebrated the variety of ways that God is displayed in this world more? Look around, none of us are the same! We are all so diverse but have such a hard time with equality and accepting one another.
Being at Pride allows you in to a world where it is okay to not be the same. A place where you are not rejected, a place where you are not ridiculed or judged. There is so much love there that the signs and megaphones are drowned out. My first parade it phased me, and I got super upset, but after that, it is like the trolls do not even exist.
That is true freedom when you can express yourself to the fullest even around people that do not care for it.
Not just expressing your sexuality, but expressing your true personality. I am not sure why this society likes to label everything and put everything in a cage and make everyone look and act the same. Not sure. But I do know as humans we do not like to be confused. We prefer everything to make sense and be normal. Sometimes people see the LGBTQ community and it confuses them. So that confusion leads to prejudice, and that prejudice leads to harm. So the moral of this blog is; can we stop harming each other? Like, can that be a thing? A consistent thing. I don't really understand when people don't wash their hands after they use the restroom, but I do not hold hateful signs up at them. I do not run up to them with a megaphone saying dirty hands are the devil. Why are people so consumed with other people's lives?
Pride is a time to celebrate a group of people and their beliefs and their identity and their expression of who they are inside. So if you are not celebrating along with those people, why are you there? How is someone turning from gay to "straight" going to change your life? I don't know. So many questions when I saw that picture. But that picture is why I write. To write to the people that might believe those signs. That might struggle with their identity because they were told they were going to hell their whole life. You feel what is inside you. Regardless if they keep trying to convince you otherwise, YOU KNOW.
Stay true to the things that people can not see and that you can feel.
No matter what it is about you that people say is too different and not normal enough, BE PROUD. Being confident in your stance and being confident in yourself allows people to feel that energy. They might not understand, but they will feel your confidence and they can't combat that. But first, you must understand it. You must understand yourself. You must not hide yourself for others because you need to face yourself everyday to truly know you. Wear your personality, your smile, your sexuality, your race, your gender, whatever it is, wear it with confidence. The fashion of you might not be understood, but rock that shit with boldness and I bet they will like it.
