It’s Hard...Do it Anyway!
Why aren’t you where you “feel” like you need to be?
Because that path to get there seems blocked off. But it’s not. The difficulty of a task does not deem it impossible. It’s just difficult. This blog is to try and persuade you to change that definition in your head.
Difficult is not impossible.
Hard is not impossible.
Uncomfortable does NOT mean impossible.
Every mother that has went through childbirth can describe this process better than me. No woman has ever said, I can have a 100 babies, that shit was easy. Now if they can, more power to them, they are superwomen.
But realistically, something that is beautiful, something that is meaningful, something that has extreme value, takes a painful process to get here. Wealth, butterflies, diamonds, children, successful businesses, sexy abs, championships, and it goes on. All these things and more took an extreme amount of pressure and discomfort to manifest.
I have never been hiking in my life, and for the first time a couple weeks ago I finally did it. Granted, it was probably an easy hike for other people who grow up around mountains. But for a city girl, that shit was difficult. But boy oh boy, when I got to the top, I was in awe. All that complaining I did on the way up just all went away when I saw the beautiful view. But, I could’ve stopped. I could’ve said forget this mountain, I am about to go home and chill and watch Netflix. But I kept going. Why did I want to stop though?
My brain tells me no, that’s too hard. No, I’m not capable of that. No, this hurts too much. No, I don’t have enough time. No, I’m way too busy for that.
So why do we run the other way? Why can’t we just have that mental toughness and endure that pain? Why when I go to the gym and it kills me, I want to stop? Why does the soreness prevent me to keep going? Why am I basing my identity purely off of accomplishing easy things? Can’t everybody do that?
LeBron James is not more special than you. Beyoncé is not more creative than you. Oprah Winfrey is not more successful than you.
Yes, we are all born with our own specific gifts. But no one’s gift is greater than the other. Some people just work on that gift, and work on that gift, and then work on that gift some more, and become great.
They are not born great.
That is a cop out to see someone great and say, well they can do that because they were born with that gift. We rather believe that these celebrities were born from some super-powered womb. As if they came into this world with more than you.
FYI.
They didn’t!
They work harder than you. They say hi to adversity. They say bye to procrastination. They welcome the pain. They invite the discomfort and keep going. They did not stop after “failure”, they learned instead of giving up. They did not stop after rejection. They did not stop after the burn-out. They just did not stop.
People do not grow and people do not change because growth is difficult. And our brains say no to that. Our brains are programmed to keep us alive and keep us comfortable. We have to go against that.
Do you just want to stay alive? Or do you want to FEEL alive?
If you want to feel alive, you have to tell your brain shut up! If you want that relationship, that job, that business, that home, that freedom from that addiction, that peace you have been craving your whole life, then embrace difficulty.
The more you embrace it, the easier it will become. Therefore, what was once difficult is now you pursuing your dream.
We all are born with the same superpower. The ability to choose.
CHOOSE FREEDOM!
CHOOSE LOVE!
CHOOSE JOY!
CHOOSE YOUR DREAMS!
CHOOSE YOURSELF!
Today my gullies, whatever has been stopping you because it’s “too hard”, do it anyway. Watch how much your life changes.
